Genetic Registration

Tobiano, Overo, and Tovero horses can be registered under our Regular Registry. Overo and Tobiano registration both require DNA verification — if your horse was already tested for APHA or Pinto, we accept that existing paperwork.

ATOA recognizes the following genes for Permanent Registry consideration. Testing must be done through an ATOA-approved lab:

Solid-colored horses registered with AQHA or APHA can be registered with ATOA as "(S) Solid," pending genetic and coat-color testing. Solids bred to a registered ATOA Tobiano produce offspring eligible for Overo or Tobiano registration.
