Register Your Horse

ATOA is a tobiano and overo horse registry for Paint Horses. Whether your horse is tobiano, overo, or tovero, here's how to register with us. Registering your horse with ATOA helps preserve accurate Paint Horse pedigrees and supports our programs in performance, breeding, and education.

1. Become a member. Registration requires a current ATOA membership — one membership covers multiple horses. If you're not yet a member, submit your Membership Application along with your horse's registration.

2. Complete the registration form. You'll need your horse's registered name (if applicable), date of birth, sex, color and pattern, and sire/dam and owner information. Download the Registration Form from our Printable Forms page.

3. Submit photos. We require five clear, current photos in natural light: left side, right side, front, rear, and a close-up of the head.

4. DNA & color testing (if required). We may request DNA testing to verify pattern, clarify registry eligibility, or confirm breeding-program participation — Frame Overo testing in particular may be required.

5. Submit & pay. Send your Registration Application, Membership Application (if needed), photos, supporting documentation, and applicable fees together.

6. Review & approval. We'll contact you if anything more is needed. Once approved, you'll receive your ATOA Registration Certificate and Membership Card.
